Everything around Fiona Sandwich is outdoor/travel related – including our sew alongs, which are called Camps! We have 2 Camps per year: Summer Camp and Winter Camp. Our sew alongs are designed to help you start your National Park travel quilt and check off your adventures!

There activities to help you grow your creativity AND you’ll work on your National Park quilt!  No need to be an experienced sewer; beginners and seasoned sewers will have a great time!

Winter Camp starts Dec 1, 2023, and runs through Feb 29, 2024. Sew from where ever you are whether at home or on the road! Go at your own pace; regardless of how many you finish, you’ll have blocks for a travel quilt or wall hanging filled with your treasured memories. Use your choice Fiona Sandwich National Park and Condiment (these are supplemental patterns that are not NP specific, but help tell your travel story) patterns.

No experience is required; beginners and seasoned sewers will have a great time! You will learn how to English or Foundation Paper Piece. I used to be really frustrated with FPP…until I discovered secrets, which I have turned into a simple method so you have success every time! I thought EPP was for the birds – who wants to sew by hand when you have a perfectly good machine…then I tried it and I was hooked! I have videos for both methods.  If you think you can’t quilt, it’s just sewing. Nothing fancy. If you can sew, you can quilt!

All of the Camp activities are based on memories and activities in the parks – you get to choose what patterns you use!

There is also no cost to participate in Summer Camp. (You will need to “check out” with this “product”, but as with all Fiona Sandwich patterns, the download will be in your account should you lose it on your end.)

FAQ’s

Can I submit edited blocks?  No. This is so beginner sewers don’t feel like they need special skills to participate. If you’d like to submit edited blocks, please consider Recreate Creatively

What is the difference between Camps and Recreate Creatively? The Summer and Winter Camps are for new sewers and quilters (those who have never participated with a Fiona Sandwich Camp). We discovered that seasoned Campers wanted more creative expression and new Campers were daunted by some of the prompts that are exciting to seasoned campers. If you have participated in 2 Camps (One Summer and one Winter), please consider joining Recreate Creatively

Are these prompts beginner friendly? Yep!! The prompts are designed to help you get started making a National Park travel quilt, grow your creative muscle and spur memories from your travels.

How long do I have to complete the prompts? All blocks must be sewn between Dec 1 and Feb 29.

Where do I find the prompts? There is a Field Guide in your downloads, inside your Fiona Sandwich account.
If you are not able to finish the prompts, just like the patterns, the Field Guides won’t disappear. They will be in your account forever and ever. If you have troubles accessing your account or have questions, please reach out.

Do I have to use specific patterns? You may use any Fiona Sandwich illustrated pattern from the State Parks, National Parks and Condiment patterns. Patterns that are not permitted: non Fiona Sandwich patterns, Park Signs, or Park Stamper Pin patterns.

Are patterns included with the Camps? No one wants to sew places that don’t interest them – where’s the fun in that?! This is a sew along where YOU get to choose what you want to sew. Download the Field Guide for specifics about the prompts, then select the patterns you want to sew! A great way to build your pattern collection quickly is through the Monthly Pattern Club.

I am SO confident that you can do this, that I will give you a free pattern!! (Casablanca - it's a traditionally pieced pattern)

If you aren't able to sew the National Park Sign block in 3 tries, I will give you the Casablanca pattern for free. The National Park Sign block comes with every National Park pattern.
