Thank you for the great tutorials. I am thinking that rather than patches, I will see if I can get my embroider machine to embroider the name of the park on the sign. I like the patches, however, I think an embroidered name will look very nice too.
You can remove the papers after you finish the piece, or after you finish the quilt. Some choose one method over the other. I had one quilter share that her Grandmother never removed the papers from an EPP quilt! They eventually wear away. Sulky makes a product called “Paper Solvy” that wash away completely. You can print your FPP pattern on them, and sew, and you never need to remove papers 🙂
I use a bit of glue to hold down the little pieces so they don’t get caught. I also find that pinning the template pieces together helps the fabric not flip up.

This tutorial was helpful. However, I struggle with piecing small pieces that need to be attached on both sides.
