Art Quilt Fabric Handbook – PDF

Introduction:

As you read, be sure to make notes. I hope that the words on the next pages inspire you, and you think of fabrics in your stash, or you remember something you saw at a quilt shop or online. I have given lots of room so you can write questions, or make a note, perhaps you can even doodle an idea that pops in your head! Think of this as a notebook to inspire you.

I have created this book to be a guide for you to explore the world around you, and to think about fabric in a different way.  I wish that we could have a cup of tea together, and we could rummage through your fabrics together; this can be the next best thing.

I wrote this with the expectation that you’d go through it a few times. If, when you are reading, you feel overwhelm wash over you, stop and think about what is causing the overwhelming thoughts.  Take a break, and mull over what you just read. The only way to tackle something large is to break it down into small steps – this guide contains the small steps.

I encourage you to do the activities for each of the sections; they will help you think like the artist you really are!!

Have a can-do attitude! You can do this, no matter your age or your perceived aptitude.

Print this handbook out, or save it to your tablet. There is an app that is really handy for making notes called “Notability”. I believe that you can make notes in the Adobe Reader app as well.

Be sure to take a screen shot of the swatches pages and save them to your phone so you can easily access them while shopping!
