On the surface a sheep doesn’t seem to have a connection to travel OR national park units, but when you dig a little, you’ll find that sheep are a part of our rich history. They help tell the story of our ancestors and how the land was cultivated. To omit a sheep block from the patterns was withholding part of our story. The wool industry is deeply connected to Hopewell Furnace with their Merino flock, and the Amana Woolen Mill (National Historic Landmark), to spinning wool demonstrations in Blue Ridge Parkway and beautiful blankets spun and woven by Native American tribes. Once you start looking, you’ll notice all the historic connections to sheep!

– Foundation Paper Piecing is perfect if you can’t sew a straight line to save your life, and you want to use your sewing machine.
– English Paper Piecing is best if you don’t know where your sewing machine is/don’t have one/want to sew by ‘hand’. But this isn’t like traditional needle and thread sewing.
